What we're tasting:
Tangerine citrus, black currant and plum, red grape.
About the coffee:
This is the second time we've purchased from Gathaithi, and we’re currently loving its deep red fruit and citrus notes (tangerine, black currant, cranberry, plum, and red grape). It’s a beautifully complex fruit medley, exactly what we’d expect in a washed coffee from Kenya.
Gathaithi is the name of the washing station as well as the FCS (Farmers Cooperative Society). The wet mills are commonly referred to as “factories” in Kenya and are often associated with coops. This is where local growers bring their cherries for processing.
This particular coffee stood out this year as an extremely high quality Kenyan coffee, loaded with juicy red fruit notes and undertones of citrus. A great pour over or flash brew iced coffee.
