About the coffee:
At El Eucalipto in La Coipa, Cajamarca, Elizabeth Guerrero produces certified organic specialty coffee focusing on Peru's traditional variety: Bourbon. She and her husband Milton intercrop coffee with corn, plantain and beans. Her farm is located approximately 1700-1750 masl.
This is our first year purchasing from Elizabeth (or from Peru), and we’re excited to offer such a clean, sweet coffee such as hers. Peruvian coffees generally strike us as a little more mild, but intensely sweet. That’s true of this coffee. It won’t be overly dynamic, but it’s a daily driver that will please a wide range of palates.
Up front we get a nice candied apple note, followed by a fudge brownie sweetness. The coffee opens up as it cools, and takes on a subtle stone fruit and honeydew juicy finish. The layers are complex and offer a really nice glimpse into Peru.
