What we're tasting:
Apricot, Honeysuckle, Black Tea
About the coffee:
Located in Yirgacheffe, the Gargari Station is managed by Birhanu Geda, about 22km from Gedeb at 1,983 m.a.s.l. There’s roughly 3,200 farmers who contribute cherries on a weekly basis, and their commitment to quality is on full display in the coffee.
A classic washed Yirgacheffe coffee. There’s beautiful notes of apricot and peach, matched with honeysuckle florals and a black tea finish. Oftentimes when we taste Yirgacheffe coffees, the florals and tea-like characteristics can be overwhelming, but not here.
The balance of the fruit with the delicate notes of florals and tea work in harmony. It’s a tough balance to strike, but this coffee does it well.
